The professional will act as a key partner to local business leadership and will oversee legal and corporate affairs issues affecting MTN Guinea.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:
–     Ensuring MTN Guinea is in compliance with all laws and regulations, in coordination with the business
–     Developing, implementing and managing a strategic plan for the provision of legal services in accordance with and in support of business objectives; budgeting for, selecting and managing outside counsel
–     Supporting a wide array of commercial matters, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, and providing advice across a broad range of subject matters including issues regarding intellectual property, competition law, marketing, and applicable regulatory matters
–     Serving as a primary interface between MTN and senior levels of the government of Guinea Republic on policy and legal matters, particularly those involving privacy, security and the promotion of intellectual property rights;
–     Leading and managing MTN Guinea Reputation
– Strategic responsibility for MTN Guinea’s Foundation and its associated partnerships, programs & supporting communications
–     Acting as the organization’s Company Secretary
–     Managing a small team of LCA resources dedicated to the business (which includes, at this time, both an attorney and corporate affairs professional) to deliver world-class legal and corporate affairs support for the full range of business operations of MTN Guinea
Candidate Requirements
–     A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional activity.
–     Law degree.
–     Excellent written and spoken English will be an advantage
–     Significant experience in the legal department of an international company and experience in a law firm.
–     Experience in managing and implementing corporate compliance initiatives.
–     Demonstrated capability in building relationships with government and third party stakeholders and implementing policy outreach campaigns to support local and company policy agenda.
–     Experience handling or managing a litigation portfolio including commercial and labor claims.
–     A strong understanding of business issues and thinking, preferably in the Telecoms sector
–     Must have strong work ethic with a positive attitude
–     Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment
